Publications for Marlis Jones
Marlis Jones was born and brought up in Bethesda. She was educated at Ysgol Dyffryn Ogwen and trained as a teacher at Bangor Normal College. After teaching for some years at Llandudno she married a farmer, settling eventually at Llanbrynmair. She started writing in 1991 in her early fifties and attended creative writing courses at the Wales Writing Centre at Ty Newydd. She competed in Eisteddfodau with some success, winning the crown for prose at the Powys Eisteddfod in 1998, 2000 and 2002. She writes mostly in Welsh and has had many short stories published including two collections, Blaenwern a Straeon Eraill and Rhyddhad? (both published by Pantycelin). After many years farming she and her husband enjoy retirement in their country cottage, being very involved with the local primary school and church activities. Her hobbies include gardening and cross stitch.
