Information for WritersFirst things first - OUR PRINCIPLESHonno ONLY considers for publication the work of women who are Welsh or living in Wales or have a significant Welsh connection. Please call us if you are unsure if you meet this requirement and we can advise you. Honno will only publish the work of authors that meet the above criterion if it is considered of sufficient quality. If your work is selected for publication all publication costs will be met by Honno. To see how to submit your manuscript to us, please see below. Having said all that ... one of Honno's main aims is to develop women writers of Wales and get them into print for the first time. We do this by having regular Calls for Submissions for our short story collections, holding Workshops and Meet the Editor sessions and giving constructive feedback on Manuscripts submitted to us. ManuscriptsWe are always interested in receiving unsolicited manuscripts of any kind but at the moment we are not publishing children/teenage novels, poetry or short story collections by a single author. However whatever kind of work you are sending please ensure that you meet the criterion at the top of this page BEFORE sending it to us. When submitting your manuscript, in the first instance please send us a synopsis and the first 50 pages - by post please, not email. Send it for the attention of Caroline Oakley to: Honno, Unit 14, Creative Units, Aberystwyth Arts Centre, Penglais Campus, Aberystwyth, Ceredigion, SY23 3GL. Please note that all manuscripts are considered individually which takes time. We aim to give feedback on unsolicited manuscripts within four months of receipt however during very busy periods feedback may take longer. We do reply to everyone who has sent in a manuscript and we appreciate your patience while we consider your work. If you wish to receive an acknowledgement that your manuscript has been received please enclose a stamped, addressed postcard with your manuscript. And of course, if you would like your manuscript returned to you, please also enclose a stamped addressed envelope. Calls for SubmissionsWe regularly publish short story and autobiographical anthologies to give new writers the chance to get into print alongside more established writers. We currently have the following calls for submissions:Send for the Fashion police ?An anthology of fictional short stories about women's relationship to image and clothes.Fashion Police: submissions now closed Thank you to everyone who submitted work for this anthology, your stories are now being read. We expect to have made our selection by the 30th June 2009.Recently Honno put out a call for submissions to a forthcoming anthology of fictional short stories inspired by the idea that different stages and events in our lives are often reflected in our image, in the way we present ourselves to the world. An enormous 'thank you' to everyone who submitted work for consideration before the deadline of 31st January 2009 - your stories are now being read and you will hear from us as soon as is possible. Due, however, to a change in the date of publication, we have decided to leave open the deadline for the anthology until the 31st March 2009. So if you missed the earlier deadline please do not feel discouraged from submitting. If, whilst working on your Easter Bonnet, you feel inspired to write a piece of no more than 3,000 words, loosely fitting the theme of women's relationship to the way they look and what they choose to wear – get weaving! We would welcome all contributions that arrive before the end of March. Original call for submission below in case you missed it the first time around.
